NOLLYWOOD ACTOR MUNA IBEKWE DIES AFTER LONG BATTLE WITH KIDNEY FAILURE

Nollywood actor Muna Ibekwe is gone too soon. One of our readers who  saw him in a cab which drove right past his house a few days ago stated that he didn't look like all was well.

He died this afternoon around 4:15pm in a hospital in Lagos after a battle with kidney related issues. Sources that he was rushed to the hospital today after he passed out  at his home. Muna was said to to have been dealing quietly with his kidney disease but kept it under wraps from friends and colleagues. He was said to have been without dialysis for over two weeks before he died.

May his soul rest in peace. I'm sure the industry will miss him.

PATIENT DIES AT LUTH AFTER BEING DETAINED FOR DEBT

Death of detained mother over bill at LUTH raises more dusts

When earlier this year a campaign tagged “Not Again” was launched by notable women human rights group, Women Advocates Research & Documentation Centre, WARDC, calling for concerted efforts towards ending the increasing number of Nigerian women who die at childbirth, not many understood the need for more of such campaigns in Nigeria until a couple of weeks ago when another needless maternal death dramatically occurred. That death this time around resulted from the alleged detention of a mother of four at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, in Lagos, over her inability to completely settle a bill of N1,382,700. The victim gave up the ghost 43 days into detention, leaving behind four little children, the youngest being 4-month-old.

MIRACLE AS A SEVEN YEAR OLD WALK OUT OF A CRASHED PLANE ALIVE

A 7-year-old girl has survived a small plane crash that killed four in Kentucky. She was disoriented in the crash but well enough to walk to a home and report it.
The resident called 911 and the girl was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Associated Press reports.
Authorities found the aircraft a couple hours later and confirmed that the pilot and three passengers were killed, AP says.
"This girl came out of the wreckage herself and found the closest residence and reported the plane crash," Dean Patterson of the Kentucky State Police told AP. "It's a miracle in a sense that she survived it, but it's tragic that four others didn't."
Patterson identified those others as Marty and Kimberly Gutzler, their daughter, Piper Gutzler, 9, and her cousin, 14-year-old Sierra Wilder, all from Nashville, Ill. The name of the 7-year-old is being withheld at the request of family, police say.

Kathleen Bergen of the FAA says the pilot of a Piper PA-34 reported engine problems as it flew over Marshall County in the southwestern part of the state.
