OIL CURSE AND NIGERIAN GOVERNORS

Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, one of the 19 northern govs, slammed what he described as a Federation Allocation regime that enriches some states, especially those in the South-south, but impoverishes the northern states.Kwankwaso said pointedly: “In this context, many other states, specifically in the South-south are today ahead of the northern states in terms of income from the Federation Account. This means that some states are getting richer while others are getting richer by the day and people are wallowing in devastating poverty.”When will the imbeciles who parade themselves are rulers from the realize that the predicament of the North getting poorer is self inflicted???.The north has always been poor even though  Nigeria has been a richly endowed country. While the rest of the country was investing in educating its people, the North has been perpetually held in down in extreme abject poverty by its present and past leaders majority of whom have come from the north. The richest men in Nigeria who own premium oil fields in the South-South are from the north but the sad irony is also that the  poorest Nigerians and millions who's lives are nothing but a celebration of human penury and poverty at the very extreme are Northerners. The millions have always been deceived with religion, while the few convert their collective wealth into personal use. Those who steal the wealth of the North will only give out handouts to the rest of the masses who they have enslaved with religious doctrines that belong to the dark ages. If all of the allocation that accrues to the north is spent by the northern governors on real things to the benefit of northerners, then the north would have been competing with Dubai today, but, its not, it is instead competing with Iraq, Afghanistan, and failed states like Somalia. A situation where Northern states prefer to spend 75% of their allocation to buy Rams during Eidel Kabir, send the executive moroons send their concubines to Mecca using state resources, maintain a parasitic army of clergy on government funds instead of investing in education;there will always be poverty. The truth be told, if the north is a victim, then it is only a victim of born and bred northerners. Stop fighting with the entire country, your enemies are within. If Nigeria is practicing true federalism, this will not be an issue but for now it is. The Northern governors established sharia law in Northern Nigeria despite the fact that the Nigerian constitution declared explicitly that Nigeria is a secular state. When the rest of the nation complained, the ruling northern elite hid under the toga of 'Federalism'.Now,the same Federalism is being used to justify giving extra resources to people whose land and source of livelihood is ravaged due to oil prospecting, now the are crying foul. The North s has great potential in Agriculture which they are known for. Back in the days, we had the Kano Groundnuts pyramids. There are other resources in the North that are not being exploited. Kwankwanso and his co Northern governors should look inwardly at developing their states without recourse to oil revenue. They should think of how to generate revenue without depending on FG allocation. The Northern governors and most of the Southern governors are all intellectually lazy and are not willing to think of other ways to seek revenue rather than waiting for oil money.

SLAIN DR TOYIN HAMZAT MAY HAVE BEEN DATING A MARRIED WOMAN PRIOR TO HIS DEATH

Dr. Toyin Hamzat, a former Special Adviser on Health to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, was on Sunday shot dead by unknown gunmen in Sagamu, Ogun State. Hamzat, a devout Muslim, was buried Monday at about 2 pm in his hometown in Ijebu-Aiyepe, also in Ogun State, according to Islamic rites. Although, details of his death were sketchy, THISDAY gathered that the deceased had dropped of f a female companion when he was attacked in front of the woman’s house in Sagamu GRA at about 9.30 pm. Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed his death and the arrest of suspects, told THISDAY that the late Hamzat, who drove in his Toyota Prado Sports Utility Vehicle had taken the woman to her house and as she stepped out of the car, his attackers, who had come in a taxi and were obviously lying in ambush, opened fire on him. The woman, other sources said, was one of the wives of the Sagamu Commander of the Ogun State Vigilante Group. According to sources, the vigilante commander had once encountered Hamzat in the woman’s house and had warned him after an intense argument to stay away from her. The Sunday killing, sources said, might not be unconnected to the fact that the man suspected Hamzat was having an affair with his wife. Already, the police have arrested the woman, her husband and three of the people working with the man in connection with the killing. While the police said it was premature to disclose the motive behind the killing, they added that it was a clear case of murder because the woman told them that she and Hamzat had noticed the two taxis trailing them and that eyewitnesses also confirmed that those who opened fire on Hamzat were from the taxis. The police said while they could not tell if the woman’s husband had killed Hamzat, preliminary investigation showed that he had some connection with the suspected killers. Adejobi told THISDAY Monday night that “five suspects have been arrested and are being interrogated in connection with the killing and we are making progress.” The late politician was reportedly seen last on Saturday in Ago-Iwoye area of Ogun State during the burial ceremony of Oladimeji Sofowora’s mother, an aide of Fashola. Meanwhile, Fashola condemned the killing and described Hamzat’s death as most unfortunate, shocking and heart rending, adding that it should not be swept under the carpet. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Hakeem Bello, “It was indeed a supreme irony of life that such a man of peace who gave so much in the service of his country in general and community in particular could come to such a violent end.” The governor condoled with his Ogun counterpart, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the state government and its people as well as the immediate and extended family members of the deceased. While praying to God to grant the widow and family members the fortitude to bear the loss, the governor described Hamzat’s assassination as a personal loss to him, Lagos State and the entire South-west family of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). A pharmacist, Hamzat who was a pioneer member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and the ACN, had served in different capacities in the party and in Lagos State. Between 1999 and 2002, he was the chairman of Ikeja Local Government. He later became a special adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the administration of former Governor Bola Tinubu. Born on October 1, 1960, Hamzat attended Adeola Odutola College Ijebu Ode where he got his A’ Levels and later proceeded to the University of Lagos, Akoka where he obtained a degree in pharmacy.

PASTOR CHRIS OKOTIE AND HIS FEMALE PARISHIONERS

After  the founder and the General Overseer of the Household of God Church, Pastor Chris Okotie sacked his second wife Stephanie Henshaw, many people were surprised when he stated that he was going to tie the nuptial knot again for the third time this December. Some female members whose hopes were dashed when he decided to marry Stephanie four years back are now jostling at the background to fill vacant the position of “Mrs Okotie.”They include, Sola Salako, who was the church’s head of administration, Vien Tetsola, a former beauty queen, Ure Okezie, daughter of former minister, Dr. Okezie, who later dated hip-hop artiste Soul E, and Rose Elishama Ideh, who became a frequent visitor at many of Okotie’s church events, and who played a major role in his last presidential campaign. All of these women quit the church in the heat of union then hoping that Okotie would one day wake up from the spell of the Calabar beauty, and their prayers were answered in June this year. The argument of the women against the choice of Stephanie was that Pastor Chris had been the family pastor during her two marriages and Stephanie’s second husband was his oldest church member. The story now is that since the pastor who was the presidential candidate of his Fresh Party is free from his marriage and has signified his intention to remarry, there is need to return as the race for the role of Mrs. Okotie is open.First to signify her intention is Ure Okezie popularly known as Queen Ure. When Okotie’s rejection pushed her into the arms of younger Soul E whom she dated for about four years before Soul E walked out of the relationship, she recently returned to the fold of the pastor that his known for his excessive grammatical expression laden sermon. When questioned about Christ Vila, the church she co-owned with her ex-lover, she replied that she has returned to Pastor Chris Okotie’s Household of God Church and that she now worships there, raising questions as to why she chose to return to the church immediately after the break-up between the pastor and Stephanie.Sources close to the church also revealed that it is a matter time before others like Vien Tetsola, and the rest return as the office of the wife of the pastor has now suddenly become vacant since most of the women in question are still single with the exception of the Roli Adeniyi who has since become married to the former vice-chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-west, Chief Olabode George. RICH NIGERIANS SPEND $6.5 BILLION ON PRIVATE JETS

According to Forbes magazine, wealthy Nigerians have spent around $6.5 billion to acquire private Jets making Nigeria the biggest market for private Jets in Africa. While the roads and infrascture are left in decay, the rich are busy taking to the skies to avoid using the death traps of our bad roads. A rather sad dimension to entire scenario is the penchant for religious leaders to want to out do the politicians in acquiring private jets.

WE NEED MORE MONEY FOR FOOD IN ASO ROCK,PRESIDENCY TELLS SENATE

Aso rock has asked the Senate, that the N1,305,292,050 budgeted for refreshment, feeding and miscellaneous expenses in the State House. Emmanuel Ogbile, the Permanent Secretary for the State House appeared before the Senator Dahiru Kuta led committee to defend the budgeted money.
With many Nigerians cutting costs after the oil subsidy removal,it is really callous that the Presidency is still living under the illusion that all is well and they can ask for more funds to cater for their gluttonous
wants. Even if you hypothetically order Louis Vuitton rice,Versace tomatoes,Channel meat, Dolce & Garbana water,Guicci spices and spend N2,000,000 for about 10,000 people everyday in Aso rock on food; that will come to a whopping sum of N730 million per year. The whitehouse spends way less than that on feeding for state house events and the feeding of the Obamas is not even included. By law,the Obama's meal need to be catered for by the salary of Mr Obama and not by tax payers. President Jonathan is paid by tax payers money and his wife is under the payroll of the Bayelsa state government and yet they still need N1,305,292,050 budgeted for refreshment, feeding and miscellaneous expenses in the State House. I hope someday Nigerian tax payers won't be asked to take care of ' Lamborghini toilet roll expenses' to cater for 'Rolls Royce feculent matter ' from Aso Rock!!!!

RIOTS IN KANO AS NORTHERN MUSLIM GO ON RAMPAGE AGAIN

Three persons have been reported killed in Bichi local government area of Kano after a wave of riots spread through the locality after locals accused an Igbo man of wearing an outfit which some of the locals believed was denigrating to Islam. Many houses, churches and business belonging to non muslims were attacked with many non muslims fleeing for their lives.Security sources fear that the riots may spread to other volatile parts of the north and they have been placed on red alert. This is another sad commentary on the way people respond with unnecessary violence in northern Nigeria. The only victor in these senseless carnage's is primitiveness, unrelenting backwardness, ignorance and promotion of medieval savagery. The development of the north has stalled and things are reverting back to pre- stone age era yet northern muslims still fail to  realize that no good development can occur in a scenario that lacks peace. As usual government response has been the repeating of the usual  rhetoric's asking muslims and christians to live in peace.

INSIDE PASTOR AYO ORITSEJAFOR'S JET

The recently acquired private jet for the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has raised many eyebrows especially due to the fact that many Nigerians are living in abject poverty while our religious leaders and politicians are busy acquiring private Jets. The picture above tells the sad irony of what is going on inside Nigeria. If a pastor is flying an executive Jet while more than half of the congregation are wallowing in poverty, what explanation does the pastor have for such an anomaly. While accepting a gift may be okay, but can't the man of God sell the Jet and put the money to good use to touch the lives of his flock like setting up scholarships, giving soft loans to help kick start small scale industries that will employ members of his church? Recall that there is a lot to owning a Jet,two pilots are needed to fly it and members of the crew need to be as many as six to seven. You also have to factor in the maintenance cost and the cost of parking the Jet in a hanger. How will this costs be taken care of of when the level of unemployment in the land even amongst christians is almost 60-70% in the entire country. How do a man of God feel comfortable living in opulence when members of his flock are living in abject poverty. The cost of maintaining a private Jet is not cheap and the money could have been been better spent on providing quality education for the kids, good affordable hospital but in Nigeria we have a failed state where the roads are horrible, public education has collapsed, private education is out of the reach of the poor while our corrupt politicians cruise around in private Jets and now our celebrity pastors have joined the league as private Jet owners all over the country while the poor masses continue to suffer.

HECTOR CAMACHO IS BRAIN DEAD

Hector Camacho Jr has been pronounced brain dead after being involved in a drive by shooting incident in Puerto Rico. The family members are currently trying to come to terms with the latest development after hoping that he will survive the incident

THE PAINFUL TRUTH ABOUT PRIVATE JET OWNERSHIP

A Boeing Business Jet,like the one used by the Nigerian presidency costs $80M. The smaller private jets used by Aliko Dangote,Mike Adenuga and co is the Gulfsream (400-500 series) which cost about $45M. While jets like Hawker Siddley,Bombadier Challenger 600 series,Global Express,Embraer Legacy and Falcons costs about $35million.According to Forbes magazine Nigerians spent $6.5Billion on private jets which makes Nigeria one of the largests markets for private jets.During Nuhu Ribadu's reign as EFCC chairman, the fear of EFCC made many Nigerian ruling elites wary of private jet acquisition. The Poverty and unemployment levels in Nigeria is mind boggling while our ruling elites and prosperity gospel ministers expend huge resources on maintaining private jets. Maintainance of a jet requires a lot of resources, infact an aircraft costs huge sums of money when parked. One trip on a private jet is equivalent of 1000 times the sum paid on a first class ticket on a commercial jet. For a plane to travel, you need a sundry retinue of permits that cost money, maintainance fees, money expended on crew wages and to conduct routine A check,B check,C check and D check you need huge sums of money. Most times, these are conducted in foreign currencies.American billionaire ,Warren Buffet who owns the largest plane manufacturing company in American commutes with economy class in commercial airlines.Despite this,he is still held in high regard by Americans. He does not need to travel in private jets to assuage his ego. Infact Warren Buffet lives in the same modest house in Omaha since 1970 and he drives the same lincoln car for the past 22 years.Billionaire,Bill gates does not own a private jet and he owns a Lexus car for over 10 years now.The last time Bill Gates visited Nigeria with his wife,he came with a commercial economy ticket. So any Nigerian pastor claiming that he needs a private jet to reach out to his numerous flocks overseas or any of our 'thieving ruling elites' who says they need a private jets, they should borrow a leaf from these two great men. There is so much need in the country and they can reach out to the needy instead of living in 'obscene and purulent opulence'

WOMBILIKI WOBIA GOVERNOR ALIYU OF NIGER STATE

'Wombiliki Wobia' is a Yoruba phrase used to describe a gluttonous, shameless, covetous person.
Governor Aliyu of Niger state who also doubles as the Chairman of the Northern Governors forum recently celebrated his birthday inside another Private Jet as that is the recent rave now among the Nigerian political elite. This is the man who complained that the Northern states needed more revenue from the Federal coffers but he and his fellow Governors are intellectually bereft of any idea on how to raise revenue or worse still manage properly the ones they are receiving instead he is busy celebrating inside Private Jets.

EX-CONVICT GENERAL OF IJAW NATION

Jailed ex-governor of Delta State James Ibori took out a rather absurd full page advert in the Nation to congratulate another ex-convict Dipreye Alamieyeseigha on the celebration of his birthday. Ibori's birthday message to his fellow ex convict was splashed in the pages of Bola Tinubu's newspaper-the Nation. Well Naijaman wishes both ex-convict governors will just realize that they are nothing but criminals who have been sentenced by the law and should just hide their heads in shame.

ALUU4 LLOYD TOKU MIKE FINALLY LAID TO REST

It was a rather somber scene as the remains of Lloyd Toku Mike was finally committed to mother earth.
Recall that he was one of the unfortunate Aluu4 who was tragically slain by villante mob who accussed them of being armed robbers. He was buried at Port Harcourt cemetery opposite Free town street off Aggrey Road Port harcourt. May his soul rest in perfect peace

AYO ORITSEJAFOR'S NEW JET

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, yesterday, celebrated 40 years on the pulpit, even as he joined the league of Nigerian pastors who own private jets. Oritsejafor’s jet marked N431CB, was announced to the congregation during the 40th anniversary thanksgiving service of his Warri-based Word of Life Bible Church, that coincided with his birthday held at the church premises. The announcement of the 10-Seater Bombadier/Challenger 601 aircraft manufactured in the United States, at the instance of one of the pastors, elicited loud ovation and applause. The Bombadier/Challenger 601 is an executive jet that seats up to 10 passengers and has a range of 3,900 nautical miles. The luxurious and spacious cabin of the jet is perfect to conduct meetings or for relaxation. Although the cost of the jet was not announced, investigation by Sunday Sun revealed that it could cost
$4.9m.The jubilant congregation spent over 15 minutes congratulating one another, while Oritsejafor did not make any comment on the gift said to have been purchased for him by the church. Other men of God who reportedly own private jets include Pastors David Oyedepo, of Winners Chapel, Enoch Adeboye, of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Sam Adeyemi, of Daystar Christian Centre. Some Nigerians have frowned at such flagrant displays of opulence, particularly on the path of their clergymen considering that majority of their flock wallow in abject poverty. DAILYSUN

ADIEU LAM ADESINA

The former Governor of Oyo State was lowered to mother earth by 4.20pm today at his Felele residency. The ACN stalwart was said to have battled with Diabetes Mellitus and he had one of his limbs amputated on account of this. While Chief Adesina may have had some shortcomings during his reign as the Oyo state governor, all those who knew him will attest to the fact that he never left the neighourhood where he was in Felele before he became the governor of Oyo state. Also unlike his contemporaries,Chief Adesina lived his life in Nigeria and chose to die among his people. He did not rush to a foreign country for medical attention and while he was governor, his foreign trips was limited.Adieu,Chief Adesina, may your soul rest in peace

PAULA BROADWELL AND GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS-A CASE OF SUBLIMATION THAT MAY HAVE CROSSED THE LINE

General David Petraeus finally bowed out from the CIA leadership citing personal indiscretions.
This is a classic case of sublimation crossing the line into an affair. When the highly respected General met Ms Paula Broadwell at Harvard, the two kept touch and ultimately spent a great amount of time working on General Petraeus's biography. Ms Broadwell,it seems referred to him as her mentor and he took her under his wings until the current scandal. What most people fail to realize is that power is the ultimate aphrodisiac and i am pretty sure that she was totally enamored by the aura that surrounded the General and he in return caved in to his inner cravings by acting as her mentor. Of course, all good plans sometimes go awry and this is a classic scenario as the General slumped from his mature defense mechanism to allow his 'little head to think for him'. We sometimes think that just because people are accomplished, they are immune to human frailties, but there are abundant evidence to the contrary. Imagine that despite Ms Broadwell's accomplishment's she was alleged to have sent threatening e-mails to another female that was supposedly close to the General. The female was said to have been worried that she involved the FBI and the emails trail led to Ms Broadwell and subsequent investigation suggests that her relationship to with her mentor was a bit too intimate. While this is still subject to confirmation,it shows how human frailties is no respecter of persons and positions
Now do i judge them, absolutely not because i believe this is a matter for them and their spouses. The entire hippocritical crowd in Washington knows that if we are to force everyone that has an affair to resign, there would be no seat left occupied in Washington.

ALLEGED ROBBERS BURNT TO DEATH IN MUSHIN,LAGOS STATE

Four men alleged to be armed robbers were apprehended in the early hours of today in Vono Street Mushin,Lagos State,Nigeria. They were extra-judicially burnt to death by the mob that captured them in the act. This is coming on the heels of the killing of the Aluu4 that generated an uproar in the entire nation and one would have thought that the Aluu4 incident has taught  people a lesson about extrajudicial killing.

NIGERIANS AND PENCHANT FOR MISPLACED AGGRESSION

A man barely escaped being lynched to death by an angry mob in Lagos who arrested him after he allegedly stole a goat. The angry mob as usual stripped him of his clothings and set about beating him. While a more militant group were about to kill him luck prevailed on the victim as another group came to the scene and reminded the crowd of what happened in Aluu village. The victim was lucky not to be killed. Nigerians are a rather unique people who never ceases to amaze. They vent so much anger of petty thieves while the biggest rogues who parade themselves in the corridors of power in the nation are allowed to continue to strut around arrogantly with nothing done to them. These rogues have plundered the entire wealth of the nation, acquire private jets, drive around in their SUV's and they send their kids to school abroad yet the masses do not hold them accountable, instead they are busy running after petty thieves. A nation is ultimately as good as its government and a government is as good as its people. The people are as good as their heart desires, their priorities. Nigerians need to get it together and stop this displaced aggression. A criminal should be handed over to the authorities and criminals in government should be held accountable for their actions. We can't run the current nation of ineptitude called Nigeria as we are currently doing and expect things to be better.

NUHU RIBADU AND STEVE OROSANYE EXCHANGE WORDS ABOUT PETROLEUM COMMITTEE'S REPORT

The much awaited report by Ribadu's committee was submitted today and as usual with what is becoming a recurrent theme among committee's presenting reports to the present administration there is already controversy trailing the report. In a testy exchange, the former Head of service ,Mr Steve Orosanye alleged that some of the figures are not confirmed with the statutory agencies. The chairman of the committee,Malam Nuhu Ribadu fired back accusing Mr Orosanye of accepting the position as a member of Board of the NNPC while the committee's work was ongoing and another member of the committee,Mr Bernard Oti accepted the position of Director of finance of NNPC. The question that comes to mind is that, does it mean that the different agencies of government were not aware that Messrs Orosanye and Oti are already appointed as members of the investigative panel looking into the activities of the oil sector especially NNPC?  It would have been more honourable for this two gentlemen to resign as members of the investigative committee to accept the plum NNPC positions because it is quite unfortunate that they accepted those positions and still expect the populace to believe their impartiality in the entire proceedings. Also, the Honorable Minister who supervises the oil sector knows fully well that this two gentlemen were already on the committee, why did she approved their appointments to the NNPC? Does it mean that the government already has set the machinery in motion for the committee to fail before they even brought their report out? Are we about to witness another report that is dead on arrival? We can not continue to build a nation that has only excelled as a 'nation where corruption reigns'  Nigeria needs a clean break and desist from being a 'kingdom of corruption'
Mr President, with all due respect, you can definitely do better than this because the responsibility rests squarely on your shoulders. Your minister for petroleum resources needs to answer to the Nigerian people why men who were on an investigative panel were appointed to positions in the parastatal that they were supposed to be investigating.

TITILAYO OMOZOJE WAS STABBED MORE THAN 76 WOUNDS

Professor John Oladapo Obafunwa a consultant Pathologists at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), stated that she died of numerous stab wounds that were in many places of her body. He further revealed that during his internal examination of the body, he found various wounds consistent with wounds from sharp weapon with a single edge blade as well as a double edge blade. The wounds according to the professor affected the left eye, right eye, upper chest area, right chest and collar bone left armpit also included a 10 x 5cm   rectangular area that has multiple individual injuries on the left side of her chest and breast overlaying the heart.Prof Obafunwa, was led in evidence by the Director of Public Prosecution , Lagos State , Barrister (Mrs) Olabisi Ogungbesan, at a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja.

GOVERNOR AKPABIO,AMEACHI AND SUNTAI'S JET'S IS NOTHING BUT INSENSITIVE OPULENCE

Recently it was reported that Akwa Ibom and River's state governors has acquired private Jets which they claim is for their state's use. This is in addition to the crashing of a Jet by the Taraba state governor who is currently being cared for at tax payers expense in a German hospital. There seem to be a a new penchant for  private Jet acquisition by Jet flying prosperity pastors and governors. This display of atrocious opulence is so
insensitive when viewed against the backdop of endemic poverty that pervades in Nigeria. When will these ruling elites realize that someday they may have to account to the despondent populace who are currently docile. I am pretty sure that Ghaddafi never at the height of reign ever imagined the kind of death that finally came upon him. Until the roads and decayed infrastructure are put in place in Nigeria, any Nigerian governor
that purchases a private Jet is nothing but a chief executive with grossly misplaced priorities. There is so much that $45 million can do in terms of providing basic infracture yet these arrogant governors can only think of wasting the country's hard earned revenue on silly acquisitions like private Jets. This is so inconsiderate no matter the amount of propaganda and spin they try to put to it.
