NOBEL LAUREATE WOLE SOYINKA LOSES DAUGHTER IYETADE SOYINKA

Iyetade Soyinka the daughter of the great novelist and nobel prize winner Wole Soyinka is dead. She was born June 6, 1965 and she passed on at the university teaching hospital Ibadan, the cause of her death hasn’t yet been disclosed all we know is she died in the hospital where she was being treated for an undisclosed ailment.

Her death was disclosed in a statement signed by Jahman Anikulapo who is Wole Soyinka’s aide; In the statement we were made to know that Iyetade Soyinka was a student at staff School and Queens School, Ibadan and she later furthered her studies at the University of Ibadan school of medicine. 

The statement described Iyetade Soyinka as a “affable, intelligent and sometimes capricious,” woman adding that she “struggled with her health in recent years.” Despite her health woes, the late Iyetade Soyinka “greeted every day with a smile and doted on her two children.”

The capital’s investigators is conducting investigation to find out the circumstances her death whose body was found in one of the houses on the street.

She was found under the windows of the house at about 11 am. The deceased’s clothing was missing. Preliminary cause of death was injuries when falling from a height. Now, investigators are considering the version that the girl could have been killed, and then thrown out the window.

At this point, investigators have interrogated occupants of the house, as well trying to establish the identity of the deceased. According to preliminary data, she might be a sex worker.

MUSTAPHA AMEGO AKA FUNKY MALAM DIES

Former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Mustapha Amego (AKA Funky Malam) passed away yesterday after a protracted battle with colon cancer. Mustapha who relocated to America many years ago, died yesterday October 23rd in Baltimore, Maryland, US.

He was one of the host of popular 90's weekly music-dance show, Sunday Rendezvous. He was also elected PMAN president  from 1993 to 1996. When he finished his  tenure, he relocated to the US where he worked with the Discovery Channel as a content producer and editor.He will be buried today according to Muslim rites. May his soul rest in peace...Amen. He is pictured above with his trademark jerry curls with Tina Onwudiwe at Nigerian Musical awards.

OKONJO-IWEALA BLASTS GOVERNORS FOR DEPLETING NIGERIA'S SAVINGS.

Federal Govt was compelled to share $16.4billion accumulated in the excess crude account prior to the global economic depression, because they believed it was unconstitutional and illegal to save.**excess crude revenue account from $20billion in 2003 to about $3.6billion today was shared by state governors.
The Minister for Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, says Nigerians should hold the governors of the 36 states of the federation responsible for depleting the excess crude revenue account from $20billion in 2003 to about $3.6billion today.
The minister said Nigeria was able to survive the negative impact of the global economic crisis because it was able to augment its budget deficit and continue with most of its development programmes with revenues from a healthy Excess Crude Revenue Account.But, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala, who is also the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, told a meeting of civil society organisations on Thursday in Abuja that the country might not survive another global economic downturn, with a depleted Excess Crude Revenue Account.
The Minister said the 36 state governors should be held responsible for the massive draw down on the account, as the Federal Government was compelled to share over $16.4billion revenue accumulated in the excess crude account prior to the global economic depression, because they believed it was unconstitutional and illegal.

Last week, I had an interesting conversation with a friend who lives in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, and is a senior civil servant in the state. Midway through the conversation, I asked what he thought about the governorship race shaping up in our state. Instantly he exploded in prolonged laughter, as if my question somehow reminded him of something altogether ludicrous. When he finally calmed down, he gave an intriguing – and deeply disturbing – response to my question.

“They,” he began, “have eliminated the best candidates from the game, leaving only half-baked material. And they have said to the people of Anambra, ‘You’re free to go ahead to choose from any of these. That’s the kind of democracy we have in this country.”

He didn’t specify who he meant by “they” – and it would have been silly of me, if not downright ignorant, to ask that he spell out what or who “they” were.

PDP GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE IN ANAMBRA ACCUSED OF FORGING HIS TAX CERTIFICATE

On the tax certificate issued by enugu state goverment, he claims to have been issued a tax receipt for his 2009 tax paid on sept 19, 2009 which is a lie as this date was a Saturday (non working day)

The said certificate is claimed to have been issued on june 14, 2011 and the tax for 2011 paid on same date, june 14, 2011. If this is assumed to be true, which tax certificate did mr tony nwoye present to pdp & inec in the run up to the april 2011 national assembly elections in which he participated? Could he have paid his 2011 tax after the elections had taken place & his colleagues sworn into office?

In the tax certificate issued by anambra state government, he claims that his source of income is medical practice. Unless tony nwoye is guilty of quackery which is possible and is a criminal offence, tony nwoye is not a graduate talk less of being a medical doctor.

Tony nwoye was indeed a medical student in the university of nigeria nsukka and withdrew after a year in medical school, which he should be in the best position to inform all why he withdrew. Was it personal or he failed 2nd mb or was involved in cult activities?

A look at the 2012 and 2013 tax certificates shall reveal that the taxes were not paid as at when due.

to further prove the lies he has concocted, his original tax receipts should be demanded and verified as this was the reason he has failed to show these to the screening committee rather, bringing a scanned copy on the pretext that originals are in anambra state.

Part iv 14(a) of the PDP guidelines states clearly that an aspirant shall not be qualified to be nominated or contest if he fails to have paid tax for the preceeding three years as at when due, and part iv15(2) of the same guidelines states that any aspirant who gives false information shall be disqualified.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA MAN CAUGHT EATING INFANT DAUGHTER-VIEWER'S DISCRETION ADVISED

Police called the grisly incident that occurred on Wednesday at a settlement near Lae "an act of cannibalism". A Papua New Guinea man described as a vampire has been arrested after allegedly murdering his young daughter by biting her neck, eating her flesh and drinking her blood, a report said on Friday. The PNG Post Courier cited local councillor John Kenny, who was one of the first on the scene, as saying the 3-year-old child and her mother were visiting the father when he grabbed the girl and ran off into nearby bushes. Kenny said the man allegedly held the toddler close to him, bit deep into her neck, ate the flesh and sucked her blood. Scared Two boys who were climbing a coconut tree nearby saw him and ran quickly to raise the alarm. "He was just laughing at the boys and continued eating the flesh and sucking the blood," Kenny told the newspaper. "The boys were scared and ran quickly to alert the people." When people arrived to investigate the man reportedly dumped the body in the bushes and ran away before being caught and turned over to police. PNG is a sprawling nation where black magic, sorcery and cannibalism sometimes occur. Last year police arrested dozens of people linked to an alleged cannibal cult accused of killing at least seven people, eating their brains raw and making soup from their p*nises. There have been several other recent cases linked to cults, witchcraft and cannibalism, with a man in 2011 reportedly found eating his screaming, newborn son during a sorcery initiation ceremony. SUPER EAGLES DEFEAT ETHIOPIA 2-1 IN ADDIS ABABA

The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Ethiopia in Addis Ababa by two goals to one.

The African Champions had a rather mediocre first half and were lucky for have a genuine Ethiopian goal

I believe it is really unconscionable for any Nigerian religious leader to milk his flock either monetarily,sexually,emotionally all to satisfy their own cravings. How does the acquisition of numerous jets make these ministers feel when Jesus Christ himself while he was alive had very little personal belongings. Infact he rode on a donkey,i am aware that there were more opulent ways to navigate around that would have been relevant to Jesus's times such as having gold plated Chariots with superbly adorned white horses. Jesus did not do any of that,but our current spiritual leaders try to rationalize all their material acquisitions that it helps them to propagate the gospel,well you should make sure that your flock's needs are well met before you start acquiring all these opulent materials.

It was the eve of valentine of 2013; I had settled for the night then came one of those dreaded late calls. It was Ben calling courtesy of the caller ID. I turned to my better half and rattled, “ I don’t like this call.”

“Sunday nwulu,” (Sunday is dead) came from half shivering and half nervous voice of Ben. I didn’t ask to know where Ben was; in unison we started heading to a townhouse that Sunday was renting south of Burtonsville Maryland. Ben arrived a couple of minutes ahead of me. We arrived didn’t, know what to expect.  The blinding police cum coroner flashing lights got me dizzy and disoriented; I didn’t know what questions to ask.Still forming questions in my head before looking for answers; I scanned the area around the entrance to his townhouse trying to make eye contact with the police. The police gave me the fat-chance look because the whole area around his townhouse had become a crime scene temporarily. Meanwhile I was still sitting in my car a safe distance from several police cruisers.

A visit to Zamfara shows that millions of kids especially girls are roaming the streets without any form of education while the only thing that this man is expending all his energy on is how to get the instrument if the Nigerian state to recognize and legitimize his perversions of lusting after kids. It speaks volumes of the contempt that Senator Yerima has for common sense when he blurted out that 'child right act is for christians not for muslims' Hear Senator Yerima on how he determined if his 14 year old wife is ready for marriage'He looked at her and assumed she was matured enough based on the size of her breasts and waist. So in Yerima's logic any older women that have small breast won't be matured enough for him?...If we are to hypothetically agree with the warped 'peadophilic Yerimalogic' that we need to marry girls off early when they menstruate so that we can prevent them from having sex while being unmarried,don't you think that it is better to give her in marriage to a 15,16 or 17 years old guy.. & keep them in your home, provide for them their needs instead giving a 14 year old to a 53 year old randy man? In 'Yerimalogic' Vesico-vaginal fistula (VVF) is not common in underaged girls when the facts are there for all to see that it is so rampant in Northern Nigeria because of this nonsense of under age marriage!!! In 'Yerimalogic' if his 14 year old wife can give birth successfully without VVF it is not about age. Well Senator,you can afford to use your stolen loot to buy the best obstetrician to cater to her needs. Who knows if she delivered via ceasarian section? The poor folks who are encouraged partake in this curse of child marriage may not be able to afford such and will end up with VVF.
Professor Ishaq Akintola, just kept yelling at any slightest chance,he had no coherence to his arguments . I am tempted to ask how did he obtained his Professorial Chair  if all he can bring is unnecessary combativeness with illogical  and unintelligent reasoning. Chaneya Kelly who is now 24 insisted that her earlier story accusing her father of rape was coerced and she wants him to be released. According to her,she wants to right a grievous error that she made when she was 9 years old.She was was living with her parents in Newburgh, N.Y. in 1997, when according to her,she had to accuse her father after she was prevailed upon to do so by her mother. The father Daryl Kelly was convicted based on the accusation and he has consistently insisted on his innocence. All appeals by him to overturn his conviction has proved abortive so far. In a rather curious twist,Chaneya mother has also come out to state that the conviction was done in error.

My sole purpose in writing this piece is to open the eyes of the world and believers to the hypocrisy and nonsense behind the pulpit, and to plea that these wolves and blind men stop deflating the faith of people who Christ died for. I am a Pastor, a full time minister at that, and I shall not sit back while

Ms Aisha Haruna (20) of Uke in Nasarawa State on Tuesday at a Grade 1 Area Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, maintained her divorce request.

Aisha had on May 29 filed a suit seeking separation from her husband, Hussaini Haruna, 27, of Gurku Village,

At the resumption of hearing, she told the court that she and her husband could not resolve the matter after the last adjourned date on Aug. 19.

The husband, who spoke through his counsel, Nuru Mua’zu, demanded Islamic procedure of divorce.

“This is an Islamic matter and there are procedures to follow before a wife is granted her wish for divorce.

“One of the procedures is that the woman has to pay what is known as ‘Kuli’.

“Kuli means, paying back some of the expenses the husband made in the course of marrying the wife.

“Though I don’t have the document here, but the total expenses is around N300,000,” Mua’zu said.

He told the court that Aisha was eight months pregnant for Haruna.

Mua’zu applied for adjournment to enable him bring the document containing the list of expenses.

The presiding judge, Mr Musa Danjuma, granted the counsel’s application and adjourned the case to Sept. 2 for continuation of hearing.

The wife had earlier told the court that her parents gave her out in marriage at the age of 13 without her consent.

The mother of one said that she stayed in the marriage for seven years, adding that she had lost interest in the marriage.

She said her loss of interest was on the ground that she was a child at that time the marriage was contracted.

TWO KENYAN MEN SIGNS AN AGREEMENT TO SHARE THE SAME WIFE

Two men on Sunday agreed to share a woman in a written contract in which they vowed never to fight over her.

The pair from Kisimani in Kisauni, Mombasa County, made the deal after realising they have both been having an affair with the woman for more than four years.

Community policing officer Adhalah Abdulrahman said he came to know of the two during a fight. “I heard people fighting and went to check, but I was surprised to see two men fighting over a woman who is said to be a widow and a mother of twins. I tried solving the issue but they refused, each insisting he could not live without the woman,” said Mr Abdulrahman.

When asked to make a choice, the woman also declined, saying she could not live without either of the men. This made them agree to take turns to live with her.
Mr Sylvester Mwendwa, one of the ‘husbands’, said they decided to share the woman with Mr Elijah Kimani.

MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF CITY CONVALESCENT CLINIC COMMITS SUICIDE

The Medical Director of City Convalescent Clinic, Mr. Okereke has committed suicide in his home in Ketu. The body of the deceased was found by his wife dangling from the ceiling fan in one of the rooms of their two-storey building, which also houses a clinic. The reason why he took his life could not be ascertained as he did not leave any suicide note behind.

           

A neighbor of the deceased said  they woke up this morning and  heard people wailing from the clinic and when they got there the wife of the deceased, who wept uncontrollably, narrated how she discovered the lifeless body of her late husband hanging from the ceiling this morning.

Disu said from what he gathered from the widow, they both slept together in one of their rooms but when she noticed that the deceased was no longer with her, she decided to check in the vacant rooms. Disu stated further that the wife, while wailing, said she couldn’t phantom why her middle-aged husband would decide to commit suicide.

The wife of the deceased is yet to come to terms with the reality that her husband is no more. From what she said, her late husband left her in their room. And after waiting for a while, she decided to look for her husband only for her to find the lifeless body hanging from a ceiling fan in an adjoining room

The deceased was married to his first wife for 10 years without a child before his present marriage. He left behind a boy and a girl.

CHAIRMAN OF ESSIEN UDIM LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF AKWA IBOM ARRESTED FOR MONEY LAUNDERING

The chairman of Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom state, Mr Nse Ntuen, was detained and arrested at the International Airport in Baltimore, Maryland on Friday August 16th for smuggling $82, 000 into the US under false pretences. The Maryland State Police Department spokesperson confirmed the arrest in an interview. According to him,Mr Ntuen failed to declare the money with the US custom officials. He only declared $5,000, only for a whopping sum of  $77,000 to be found in his luggage. When questioned Mr Ntuen lied that he brought the money into the US to donate it at the Annual International Convention of the Akwa Ibom Indigenes in the US and Canada which was scheduled for the Marriot Hotel in Washington, DC. He was released after five hours in custody without the but money. It was confiscated by the Maryland State Police Department.
