The Kano Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya has confirmed to Naijaman.com that gunmen believed to be members of the Boko Haram struck the Kurna Asabe area of Kano State and killed two Igbo business man on Friday May 24, 2013. Eye witness account states that the two gunmen stormed an Electronics shop on Baban Layi, Kurna Asabe area of the city killing the two men – a Vulcanizer and an Electronics dealer. The slain men are from Nsukka, Enugu State and have been identified as Ibe Ugwuanyi, 30 (Vulcanizer) and Eke Osita Joseph, an Electronics dealer, 35.Ibe Ugwuanyi's vulcanizing business is sited along Ibadan Road, Sabon Gari, Kano and Eke Osita Joseph owns an electronics shop at Baban Layi, Kurna Asabe. Ibe Ugwuanyi, after rounding up his business deals for the day decided to visit Eke Osita Joseph at his electronic shop to watch movies as was his custom. No sooner has he settled down it was alleged that two gun totting men in Islamic attire came to the shop and opened fire at close range killing the two men instantly before fleeing from the scene of the incident. The men were said to be chanting 'Allah Akbar' The two victims were rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital where they were certified dead on arrival. Their remains have been moved to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy as this is a coroner's case. Grieving friend's and relatives of the two deceased victims have concluded plans to repatriate their remains to Ovoko,Nsukka,Enugu state for burial.
