PBS REPORT ON CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA
Another report on Nigeria showcased by PBS NewsHour. Sadly, corruption is a stain that those in power in Nigeria fail to wash out of the fabric of society. I think it's important to continue to keep an eye on Nigerian affairs, as it is destined to become one of the next newly-emerging economic powerhouses.
In Nigeria, where corruption is part of daily life, police officers routinely demand bribes, local government leaders pocket money meant for schools and the former national security advisor is accused of stealing billions from the military. In this PBS series "Nigeria: Pain and Promise," special correspondent Nick Schifrin reports on the challenges of fighting corruption.
