Pakistan police said that they have made arrests in connection with the shooting of Malala Yousafzai, the 14-year-old girl who has become known all over the world as a beacon for peace and the rights of young women to receive education despite discrimination. Dawn, a Pakistani newspaper, stated that the police in Yousafzai’s native Swat Valley have made the arrests. Details are still sketchy on the number of suspects, their role in the shooting incident.Yousafzai, and two of her friends (all were girls) , were shot and wounded on their way home from school. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.Malala had a bullet removed from her body in an operation earlier in Pakistan and is in critical but stable condition in a military hospital in Rawalpindi,Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf, Pakistan's prime minister visited her a in hospital and declared that "It was not a crime against an individual but a crime against humanity and an attack on our national and social values," he said.
