PAULA BROADWELL AND GENERAL DAVID PETRAEUS-A CASE OF SUBLIMATION THAT MAY HAVE CROSSED THE LINE

General David Petraeus finally bowed out from the CIA leadership citing personal indiscretions.
This is a classic case of sublimation crossing the line into an affair. When the highly respected General met Ms Paula Broadwell at Harvard, the two kept touch and ultimately spent a great amount of time working on General Petraeus's biography. Ms Broadwell,it seems referred to him as her mentor and he took her under his wings until the current scandal. What most people fail to realize is that power is the ultimate aphrodisiac and i am pretty sure that she was totally enamored by the aura that surrounded the General and he in return caved in to his inner cravings by acting as her mentor. Of course, all good plans sometimes go awry and this is a classic scenario as the General slumped from his mature defense mechanism to allow his 'little head to think for him'. We sometimes think that just because people are accomplished, they are immune to human frailties, but there are abundant evidence to the contrary. Imagine that despite Ms Broadwell's accomplishment's she was alleged to have sent threatening e-mails to another female that was supposedly close to the General. The female was said to have been worried that she involved the FBI and the emails trail led to Ms Broadwell and subsequent investigation suggests that her relationship to with her mentor was a bit too intimate. While this is still subject to confirmation,it shows how human frailties is no respecter of persons and positions
Now do i judge them, absolutely not because i believe this is a matter for them and their spouses. The entire hippocritical crowd in Washington knows that if we are to force everyone that has an affair to resign, there would be no seat left occupied in Washington.

ALLEGED ROBBERS BURNT TO DEATH IN MUSHIN,LAGOS STATE

Four men alleged to be armed robbers were apprehended in the early hours of today in Vono Street Mushin,Lagos State,Nigeria. They were extra-judicially burnt to death by the mob that captured them in the act. This is coming on the heels of the killing of the Aluu4 that generated an uproar in the entire nation and one would have thought that the Aluu4 incident has taught  people a lesson about extrajudicial killing.

NIGERIANS AND PENCHANT FOR MISPLACED AGGRESSION

A man barely escaped being lynched to death by an angry mob in Lagos who arrested him after he allegedly stole a goat. The angry mob as usual stripped him of his clothings and set about beating him. While a more militant group were about to kill him luck prevailed on the victim as another group came to the scene and reminded the crowd of what happened in Aluu village. The victim was lucky not to be killed. Nigerians are a rather unique people who never ceases to amaze. They vent so much anger of petty thieves while the biggest rogues who parade themselves in the corridors of power in the nation are allowed to continue to strut around arrogantly with nothing done to them. These rogues have plundered the entire wealth of the nation, acquire private jets, drive around in their SUV's and they send their kids to school abroad yet the masses do not hold them accountable, instead they are busy running after petty thieves. A nation is ultimately as good as its government and a government is as good as its people. The people are as good as their heart desires, their priorities. Nigerians need to get it together and stop this displaced aggression. A criminal should be handed over to the authorities and criminals in government should be held accountable for their actions. We can't run the current nation of ineptitude called Nigeria as we are currently doing and expect things to be better.

NUHU RIBADU AND STEVE OROSANYE EXCHANGE WORDS ABOUT PETROLEUM COMMITTEE'S REPORT

The much awaited report by Ribadu's committee was submitted today and as usual with what is becoming a recurrent theme among committee's presenting reports to the present administration there is already controversy trailing the report. In a testy exchange, the former Head of service ,Mr Steve Orosanye alleged that some of the figures are not confirmed with the statutory agencies. The chairman of the committee,Malam Nuhu Ribadu fired back accusing Mr Orosanye of accepting the position as a member of Board of the NNPC while the committee's work was ongoing and another member of the committee,Mr Bernard Oti accepted the position of Director of finance of NNPC. The question that comes to mind is that, does it mean that the different agencies of government were not aware that Messrs Orosanye and Oti are already appointed as members of the investigative panel looking into the activities of the oil sector especially NNPC?  It would have been more honourable for this two gentlemen to resign as members of the investigative committee to accept the plum NNPC positions because it is quite unfortunate that they accepted those positions and still expect the populace to believe their impartiality in the entire proceedings. Also, the Honorable Minister who supervises the oil sector knows fully well that this two gentlemen were already on the committee, why did she approved their appointments to the NNPC? Does it mean that the government already has set the machinery in motion for the committee to fail before they even brought their report out? Are we about to witness another report that is dead on arrival? We can not continue to build a nation that has only excelled as a 'nation where corruption reigns'  Nigeria needs a clean break and desist from being a 'kingdom of corruption'
Mr President, with all due respect, you can definitely do better than this because the responsibility rests squarely on your shoulders. Your minister for petroleum resources needs to answer to the Nigerian people why men who were on an investigative panel were appointed to positions in the parastatal that they were supposed to be investigating.

GOVERNOR AKPABIO,AMEACHI AND SUNTAI'S JET'S IS NOTHING BUT INSENSITIVE OPULENCE

Recently it was reported that Akwa Ibom and River's state governors has acquired private Jets which they claim is for their state's use. This is in addition to the crashing of a Jet by the Taraba state governor who is currently being cared for at tax payers expense in a German hospital. There seem to be a a new penchant for  private Jet acquisition by Jet flying prosperity pastors and governors. This display of atrocious opulence is so
insensitive when viewed against the backdop of endemic poverty that pervades in Nigeria. When will these ruling elites realize that someday they may have to account to the despondent populace who are currently docile. I am pretty sure that Ghaddafi never at the height of reign ever imagined the kind of death that finally came upon him. Until the roads and decayed infrastructure are put in place in Nigeria, any Nigerian governor
that purchases a private Jet is nothing but a chief executive with grossly misplaced priorities. There is so much that $45 million can do in terms of providing basic infracture yet these arrogant governors can only think of wasting the country's hard earned revenue on silly acquisitions like private Jets. This is so inconsiderate no matter the amount of propaganda and spin they try to put to it.
